Linen for Your Health!

A few months ago, I posted about how Paul and I were making the transition to more modest clothing and how we discovered the amazing health benefits of linen fabric. We are now in the process of changing everything to linen! From our clothes, bed sheets and even curtains, we want everything to be made of linen. I am even planning to reupholster Paul's work chair with purple linen (his choice)!

It has been so exciting researching and learning about the history and benefits of linen. Linen is even mentioned throughout the Bible. It is one of the oldest textiles, dating back 3500 years ago. Yahweh instructed Moses to make garments of linen for Aaron and his sons when serving in the Tabernacle (Exodus 28:39-43). The actual Tabernacle in the wilderness had curtains made of fine linen (Exodus 26:1-6). The body of Yeshua was wrapped in linen (Matthew 27:57-61). And in Revelation, it is prophesied that linen will be used as a sign of purity: Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure" - for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints (Revelation 19:6-8).

It is amazing to me when scientific facts confirm what the Scriptures have said for thousands of years. Linen is made from the flax plant, which is complementary with human cells. It measures 5,000 signature frequencies compared to cotton, which has 40, and organic unbleached cotton which measures 100. Pure wool also measures 5000 units of energy, but we don't need to wear any wool while in Florida! Also, wearing black of any fabric collapses the energy field, yielding it useless.

Linen provides an excellent filter protection against noise, chemical exposure and dust. Sleeping on sheets of linen can also provide a better night's sleep, absorb moisture, and is more durable than cotton bedding.

While I am browsing through stores, I try to look for anything linen. I recently found shirts and pants at Target made with 100% linen and Paul and I had a blast picking out his new wardrobe. I bought a couple of things, but I hope to start making linen skirts and tops soon, so I am holding off on buying too many items. My friend Debra has also been inspired to wear more linen and spotted linen clothes for children in the window of boutique while we were walking. The clothes were quite expensive, but looked simple to make. So making linen clothes for Noa and other young ones will be on my list to make too!

Making changes to a more modest wardrobe has been quite challenging for me, but discovering the healing benefits of wearing linen has really helped make this process more simple and easy. One health advocate whose writings have really inspired me about dress reform is Ellen G. White, author and co-founder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. White has many teachings on diet, health and nutrition and she also emphasized the importance of proper dress by not exposing the limbs, which she claimed can cause circulation problems, and by not wearing clothing that is too tight, again causing circulation problems. I am not familiar with all of White's religious teachings, but I have found truth in her teachings about health, diet and dress.

I am amazed at how Yahweh reveals these wisdom nuggets to me as I continue on my journey to optimum health and healing. It is definitely a process and He is gentle with me as I make changes when I am ready. We are all in different places, and I am encouraged by all of you who are also growing and learning in these areas. Please post comments and share your knowledge too so we can inspire each other!

Thank you for the information, I will take that into consideration as I shop for items.

I also want to thank you for using God's name when refering to the Bible. Most people don't know what it is or aren't bold enough to use it. I appreciate seeing that!!!

I love wearing linen. We haven't transitioned right over to linen as yet as its expensive even to clothe our whole family as it is, but I've been fortunate to see some linen pants for our toddler and a wrap skirt for myself at Value Village and purchased both for under $10 total! We keep our eyes peeled for linen like on a treasure hunt, and its so fun!! In the transition time, we got rid of basically all of our synthetic fabrics since their frequency is 0 so they rob our bodies of energy and health. That's a good place to start, anyways.

Thanks for this informaiton. Are there any other fabrics besides linen that are healthy?

Wool measures at the same frequency as linen at 5000, and organic unbleached cotton measures at 100, which is equal to the human body, so it is not taking away energy.

How funny that I read this post today, since I spent the afternoon finishing a linen outfit for Trinity! I, too, have been trying to go toward all linen and wool. Thanks for the post! I had no idea that black fabric canceled out its benefits. How about other colors?

I really like natural fibers! Wearing them, and working with them. I live in the north so I like to wear wool. We grow sheep on our farm and spin their wool and knit and make stuff with it. I like to dye the wool with dyes that I find growing around me. I also like to wear silk, cotton and linen. I do have some rayon, and a couple polyester but I try to stay away from them for they just don't let my skin breath! But sometimes there is just something so nice at the resale store and I have to get it even though it is not a natural fiber. :)
I like the idea of wearing only linen! That is so neat!

I am very curious, do you all eat just vegetables? Or do you have raw milk and raw meat in you diet?

Andrea, your blog and YOU are such an inspiration to soooo many people! I'm blessed to have you as such a dear friend in my life! It's definitely great to hear all the news you report of your research and findings and how it confirms what I too have been doing with my clothes. I love 100% organic cotton clothes that are unbleached and not dyed, and now I know why I have been soooo drawn to it! For its frequency of 100 does support the human body beautifully! I love wearing white and "natural" colors too! Now I'm looking forward to finding more LINEN and experiencing its "super frequency"!!! :)

Hi Andrea,

I have been thinking about it a lot lately. I'm so glad that you wrote about linen. I had heard Paul mention it before, and found the information about the frequencies fascinating. I'm sure that it will be a challenege to make the switch, I don't sew...atleast not yet. God bless you!

I am so inspired to bring in some linen in our home. I was able to find one shirt for me and one for my husband at the secondhand store and also what looks like a few yard of linen fabric. I plan to make a few undershirts and a slip for under my skirt. thanks for the blog.

Thank you Andrea, for sharing, this has been something on my mind as well. we started the journey a few years ago but have not made towards linen, we gave away alot of clothes and are currently on cotton for the most part.

I need to make some bread bags, maybe i'll sew some from linen fabric.

Wow, I never knew that different cloth produced different effects on the body.. that amazing! I guess I am gonna have to make some changes as I can. We have very little money and I have no idea how to sew, so this could be challenging! Thanks for sharing!

Shalom! What an eye opener your family is! We were already Torah observant, but we've learned so much about other issues from you guys like raw food & linen. I had no idea about linen having a "frequency"! I had to go look that one up for myself : ) I'd always avoided it because I'm very sensitive and linen feels scratchy hanging on the store rack. Now, when I'm looking at clothing, I can't see it the way I used to...now everything just looks inferior LOL. When you make your linen skirts, how are you going to solve the problem of it being see through? Slips aren't made of linen & if you wear a lip, then you wont have linen against your skin, right? Todah for the advice from a woman's perspective!

i have caught the linen "bug" too! my favorite place to watch for shirts is in the mens aisle of goodwill. if i find a linin one in my size, i grab it. $4 is a very good price. i made a 3 tiered underslip to go under my long cotton skirts. the skirts are gypsy-ish and very thin. the slip puts linen next to my skin and blocks light from shining through. please be aware that the biblical prohibition against wearing wool with linen is very real. wool and linen have the same signature vibration and when worn together they short each other out and their fields collapse.

Can you site scriptures or scientific evidence regarding the effect of the color black in clothing? I know, as an artist, black is the "absence of light". So in a metaphysical sense I can understand why one would say it is not advisable to wear it. But, how does the physiology of the fiber change when it is dyed black as opposed to purple or orange for example?

I have repeatedly read that statement but no one so far has given any references for support.

Yes please I would link a link to more info about why black would nullify the health benefits of linen.... any research articles? I've looked and can't find more info on this topic either. Also be careful only eating veggies (if that's what you are doing) soy is VERY bad for the body (see Dr. Mercola's research on soy) and there really are certain amino acids and B vitamins only obtained from animals. Remember Yeshuah ate fish & lamb...if that is what HE did that is what I will do ..I was led away from Ellen White teachings by YWH. God bless you.

Yes, you do have to be careful eating a vegan diet! Not because the diet is bad, but because too many people do not make sure they are doing it correctly. All the nutrients that a human body needs can be found in abundance in the plant-based diet.
Yes, Christ ate fish. But when Christ was here, we were not in the Antitypical Day of Atonement as we are now - hence the need to abandon animal foods.
Since the writings of Ellen White only agree with and confirm what the scripture teaches - I would be very suspicious of any being that tries to "lead you away" from such teachings.

I am following Torah, and learning about Linen. Thank you so much for your information. I am going to go to the LA Garment District in search of a Linen that is pure. Yah willing, it is there. Thank you for your love of our King

Thank you for your post, I am learning about Linen and wanting to Obey Torah. The two seem to go hand in hand. I am getting closer and closer to Yah, I thank you for being used too :)

I've been discovering lenin lately! When I recently started sewing, I learned of the coolness of the material but all this other neat scientific stuff... AMAZING!!! YHWH knows what he is talking about in His commandments about not mixing wool and linen.
I've bookmarked your page! :-)

I have been using linen now since July 7,2015 24/7 day and night. I decided to wear all natural fibers since 1994 which included some linen.

I am very curious: if linen is washed, then dried, and originally died with color wouldn't that lessen the benefits of the linen. Dry cleaning chemicals are very bad as well.

If an item is in the thrift shop - it is probably several years old by now. It wouldn't have any health benefits, any longer, because of the fact that is has been washed several times, maybe dried cleaned a number of times, with all their chemicals.

How is it going with your linen transition? I would like to begin using this fabric for designing clothes. Do you have any recommendations on wholesale distributors? Thank you for the article.

I really enjoyed reading this! My Mom and I are working on switching to natural fibers. I just want to warn you to be very careful of Ellen White... I would pray protection over yourself before reading her book. Ellen G. White copied a lot of writings from Doctors of her time AND she borrowed quite a bit from Joseph Smith, founder of the LDS Church. My Mom's family used to be Adventists but have since come out of the Church. My Mom and I are Followers of Yashua now, and I was so happy to see you use the Father's name! Praise Yahweh!

As much as you can my sister, remove words connected to limiting beliefs such as "expensive". I recommend a book called ' feel free to prosper' as a shift in mindset will allow you by the Creators will and with His aid to bring all that is best for you and your family. We are connected to abundance. The fact that the creator gave us this fabric means it is FOR us. Own that and set the inte tion..SEE it.. and ASK and I believe you and your family will all be clothed in linen sooner than might have previously thought.
